Home Improvements

We have done quite a bit this summer to improve the looks of the outside of our house. The first week of May Tanner replaced all of the windows, the garage door, and the front door. The next weekend we removed two of the three very large Spruce trees that took up just about the entire front lawn. It was quite a chore, but he, Grandpa Lewis, and Charley got it done all in one day. They even finished before evening. Tanner brought his scissor lift home and that is what they stood on to chain saw the branches off. We had quite a few cars drive by and watch, especially when we were doing the "timber" thing with the bare trunk. They cut a wedge in the trunk and then Tanner got on the scissor lift and just started pushing the top until it went down. The third week we got new carpet in the basement. We had to tear out the old carpet, which was hard work. The one bedroom had high traffic carpet just glued to the floor. We borrowed a wide razor blade with a handle from grandpa Lewis which made it much easier and faster. The fourth week we had it re-sided. They sided the shed that Tanner built this Spring as well. When all of the vacations were done Tanner built a front porch. It looks amazingly different. The hard work definately paid off. Now the next project is to get the front lawn green again.
