Porter riding the knee boardWe bought a boat at the beginning of the summer. Tanner is in heaven. He was so excited that he found one that was affordable and also had everything on it that he wanted. We used it a ton this summer. Thanks to all of the families that went with us! We had a ton of fun and can't wait for next year. (If you want to go boating with us next year you may want to sign up now for a day. It seems that we missed taking a few families. =)) We started off the summer going to Jensen’s grove, but the first part of August we just couldn’t go anymore. The seaweed was poking out of the middle of the lake and there were these really weird looking swimming creatures. Then we spent the rest of the summer going to American Falls and Twin Lakes. At the beginning of the summer Haylee, Devin, and Cody were terrified of the water. Jacquelyn wasn't scared of the water just limited to what she would do, but by the end of the summer she was all about swimming anytime/anywhere as long as she had a life jacket on. Toward the beginning of the summer Tanner decided the best way to cure their fear was to throw them in the water with a life jacket on. Wow! It worked. Haylee is our little water bug now, Devin still won't go under the water, but he will go up to his chest and will splash around. He says he doesn't want to get his ears wet because it hurts them. He had tubes in his ears and maybe they really do. Tanner cured Cody by sitting him in the sand and letting the waves come splashing up on him. After that we couldn't get him to stay on the beach. He wanted to walk into the water and when the water reached his chest he would come back and then do it again. The kids loved the tube (we started pulling them at 10 mph and by the end of the summer they were yelling "faster, faster" and ended up around 35 mph). We even got the girls to try the knee board. Haylee couldn't get enough of it. Next year we'll try skiing.
